Iaso participated in the first live-streamed global Interactive Rhinology & Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery, Monday, 11th May 2015

Greece was represented by IASO and namely by Professor Christos Georgalas, Chief of the Department of Rhinology & Endoscopic Skull Base at IASO Children’s hospital. At the state-of-the-art and fully equipped operating rooms of IASO, Professor Georgalas performed an extensive endoscopic sinus surgery, live-streamed to University Hospitals abroad.

Specifically, the live-streaming was realised among eight world-class ENT Professors who performed 11 live endoscopic surgeries. The participants were IASO and 7 other worldwide Reference Centres – University Hospitals: Switzerland (Simmen, Hirslanden), Spain (Bernal, Barcelona), Italy (Castelnuovo, Varese), U.S.A. (Palmer, Philadelphia), United Kingdom (Carrie, Newcastle), the Netherlands (Menger, Utrecht) and Canada (Twefic, Toronto).

Professor Christos Georgalas, one of the most experienced surgeons in endoscopic paranasal sinuses and skull base surgery worldwide, was able to transmit, analyse and reply to questions from all over the globe throughout the procedure.

The world-class participating Professors, renew their “live” meeting for next year in order to disseminate their knowledge and train the Greek and foreign Rhinologists in these kind of procedures.
