The meeting between the Board of Directors of Elitour and the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, took place in a warm atmosphere. Mr. Giorgos Patoulis, President of Elitour and President of the Athens Medical Association, discussed the efforts made by the Greek Health Tourism Council for Health Tourism to promote Greece as a pioneering destination for health and wellness tourism on the international stage.
Specifically, Mr. Patoulis highlighted the actions and history of Elitour and emphasized that our goal focuses on providing high-level health and wellness services, in combination with the quality tourist services offered by Greece. Finally, the President of Elitour presented a series of proposals to the Minister of Health that would contribute to strengthening Health and Wellness Tourism in Greece. These proposals relate to the Development Law, the operation of primary health care units within 4 & 5-star hotels with specific certifications and standards, the Registry of Health & Wellness Tourism Providers, and the Licensing of Day Care Units and other specialties beyond those that can currently be licensed.
The Minister of Health, after congratulating Elitour for its progress so far, assured that Health and Wellness Tourism is a priority for the Ministry of Health and believes that Greece has the natural advantages to establish itself as a leading destination on the international scene, despite the high competition. Finally, he mentioned that there would be an ongoing process between Elitour and the Ministry of Health, aiming to developmentally promote Health Tourism, and emphasized that Elitour is the only entity actively involved in Health & Wellness Tourism.
The meeting was attended by Elitour’s First Vice-President, Mr. Konstantinos Pantos, the Second Vice-President, Ms. Christina Tampourea, and members of the Board of Directors, Mr. Konstantinos Kouskoukis, Mr. Christoforos Tzermias, Mr. George Kakoulidis, Mr. Nikolaos Kouvelas, Mr. George Soras, Mr. George Daskalakis, Mr. Apostolos Oikonomou, Mr. Dimitris Galanis, while Mr. Grigoris Kyriakou was represented by Ms. Anthi Christodoulou and Ms. Evangelia Mariza.
