Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis Represents Greece at ISHRS Live Surgery Workshop 2026

Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis (MD, PhD, FISHRS) took an active role at the ISHRS Live Surgery Workshop 2026 in Islamabad—delivering a key lecture, joining expert panels, moderating Q&A, and contributing to live surgical training.

Dr. Konstantinos Anastassakis, MD, PhD, FISHRS, had a strong and multifaceted presence at the ISHRS Live Surgery Workshop 2026, held in Islamabad, Pakistan—one of the most hands-on international educational events in hair restoration surgery. The workshop brings together leading surgeons from Europe, Asia, and the Americas and focuses on real-time learning through scientific sessions, expert discussions, and live operating-theatre demonstrations.

Dr. Anastassakis’ participation went well beyond attendance. He was selected to contribute as a speaker, panelist, discussion moderator, and trainer in live surgery, reflecting the international recognition of his clinical experience and ongoing scientific contribution to the field.

In his main lecture, Dr. Anastassakis presented on “Combination of FUE & FUT technique to preserve the donor density”, addressing a core principle of modern hair transplantation: long-term donor area preservation. He discussed the biological and surgical rationale behind combining techniques, the criteria for selecting appropriate candidates, and the importance of planning with future hair-loss progression in mind. His approach emphasized achieving strong graft yield while safeguarding the donor area as a lifelong resource for the patient.

Beyond his lecture, Dr. Anastassakis actively participated in specialised panels such as Tips & Tricks and Full House, where surgeons exchange practical expertise on donor harvesting methods, precision tools, complication prevention, and factors that improve graft survival and overall density. He also moderated a Q&A session focused on contemporary surgical decision-making, patient selection, expectation management, and how medical therapy can complement a transplant strategy.

A highlight of the workshop was Dr. Anastassakis’ involvement in the Live Surgery in the operating theatre, a teaching format regarded as the highest level of surgical education. Live sessions allow peers to observe technique, workflow, and decision-making in real time—covering key stages such as strip harvesting (FUT), natural hairline design, recipient site creation, and graft placement strategies.

International scientific engagement of this level directly benefits patients by supporting continuous improvement in safety protocols, surgical planning, and the adoption of best practices shared by top experts worldwide. Dr. Anastassakis’ active role at the ISHRS Live Surgery Workshop 2026 further reinforces Greece’s presence in the global hair restoration community and highlights the country’s contribution to advanced, responsible medical care—an important pillar for the growth of medical tourism in Greece.
