Groundbreaking Personalized Knee Arthroplasty with the Symbios System
Knee arthroplasty is entering a new, fully personalized era at IASO General Clinic, with the implementation of the innovative personalization method by using Computed Tomography (CT), thanks to the advanced Symbios system. This method was applied for the first time by the 2nd Orthopedics Clinic of our General Clinic, having Mr. Konstantinos Intzoglou as its Director, making a fully personalized surgical approach, based on the unique anatomical characteristics of each knee, possible for patients. Contrary to conventional techniques, where the bone is adapted to the implant, the Symbios system allows for the custom design of both the implant and the surgical plan. As a result, greater precision, better functionality, shorter surgery duration, and faster recovery are achieved.
Indications for applying the method:
- Degenerative knee osteoarthritis
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Post-traumatic lesions
- Unique anatomy or knee deformities
Main advantages:
- Full customization of the implant
- Minimal blood loss
- Better alignment and stability
- Faster recovery & reduced postoperative pain
- Longer implant lifespan
International Training and Demonstration Center for the most advanced technique for treating Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
At the same time, IASO General Clinic is one of the four officially recognized International Demonstration and Training Centers in Europe, and the only one in Greece, for the use of the innovative MultiPulse HoPLUS 150-watt Laser system for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). This recognition was awarded by the internationally renowned company Jena Surgical GmbH, as a result of the multiannual experience, medical excellence, and technological innovation of the 4th Urology Clinic of IASO General Clinic, under the direction of Mr. Nikolaos Bafaloukas.
The MiLEP Innovation
The MiLEP method (Minimally invasive Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) is an evolution of the HoLEP procedure and has been globally adopted as the recommended method for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia. By using a special, 30% thinner endoscope, it ensures:
- Even greater precision in targeting the tissue
- Reduced urethral trauma
- Faster recovery and more comfort through the use of a thinner urinary catheter
MiLEP combines the power of the 150-watt Holmium Laser with the innovation of a miniaturized approach, offering patients a bloodless, definitive, and minimally invasive solution with minimal hospitalization and a rapid return to daily life.
HoLEP, Established as the “Gold Standard”
HoLEP, a method involving complete Holmium Laser enucleation of the adenoma, is currently regarded as the best surgical option available for BPH, offering advantages such as:
- Safety, even for patients on anticoagulants
- Permanent results with no residual tissue
- Application to glands of all sizes, even those over 300cc
- Only a one-day hospital stay
- Full recovery within 7 days
More than 2,000 patients have been successfully treated with the HoLEP method by the medical team staffing the 4th Urology Clinic of IASO General Clinic – an experience that started in 2018 and keeps moving forward.
