Meeting between George Patoulis and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Giannis Loverdos – Focus on the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute and the Greek Diaspora

The meeting between the President of the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute and President of the Athens Medical Association, Mr. George Patoulis, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for issues concerning the Greek Diaspora, Mr. Giannis Loverdos, was held in a cordial atmosphere.

During the meeting, the initiatives and international activities undertaken by the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute were extensively discussed, with particular emphasis on the promotion of the Hippocratic ideal and the highlighting of Greece’s medical heritage on a global scale. Special reference was made to the Institute’s educational and cultural initiatives aimed at transmitting the values of Hippocratic medicine to the younger generations of physicians, both within Greece and abroad, as well as to Mr. Patoulis’ significant initiative to connect all medical associations abroad.

Furthermore, the two parties discussed issues concerning the Greek Diaspora and the potential for collaboration in strengthening its connection with Greece’s scientific and cultural roots.

Special importance was also attributed to the issue of the medical visa, with Mr. Patoulis recalling that he had recently submitted a relevant request to the competent Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. George Gerapetritis, and highlighting the importance of facilitating access for patients from abroad who wish to receive medical services in Greece, thereby contributing to the further development of medical tourism.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on ongoing communication and joint actions to promote the international outreach of Greek medical science and further strengthen ties with the Greek Diaspora. Present at the meeting were New Democracy MP and President of the Special Permanent Committee on Greeks Abroad, Mr. Filippos Fortomas, the First Vice President of the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute, Dr. Konstantinos Pantos, as well as the Secretary General, Dr. Antonios Polydorou.
