Message of Unity from Boston – Presence of the President of the Athens Medical Association at the Official Dinner of the Greek Diaspora

The annual official dinner of the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies of New England was held in a particularly warm and nationally charged atmosphere at the Venezia restaurant in Dorchester, Massachusetts, in the presence of the President of the Athens Medical Association, Dr. Georgios Patoulis, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the established Boston parade.

The event commenced with the playing of the national anthems of Greece and the United States, followed by a prayer delivered by Protopresbyter Romanos Karanos, presiding priest of the Annunciation of the Theotokos community in Brockton, who represented His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios of Boston and conveyed his blessings and best wishes.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by the Consul General of Greece in Boston, Mr. S. Tegos, the President of the Athens Medical Association, Dr. Georgios Patoulis—who was present in Boston in the context of the parade—and the President of the Federation of Hellenic-American Societies of New England, Ms. Eleni Vidali.

In his address, Dr. Patoulis, after expressing his gratitude to Ms. Vidali for the invitation and congratulating her on the significant work she carries out in Boston, emphasized: “The Greek diaspora constitutes a strong pillar of unity and progress for Hellenism across the globe. Today, more than ever, we have a duty to bridge the efforts of Greeks worldwide, to unite forces, knowledge, and experiences, with the aim of promoting our shared identity, strengthening our homeland, and preserving the values that unite us. Together, we can build a robust network of cooperation and solidarity for future generations.”

Particularly moving was the presence of Dimitris Kyriakidis, son of the legendary Greek marathon runner Stylianos Kyriakidis, who achieved the historic victory in the Boston Marathon in 1946, remaining a timeless symbol of strength, faith, and contribution.

During the event, honors were awarded by Ms. Vidali to individuals for their contribution and work, including D. Palaiologos, Director of the Center for Political Research at Suffolk University in Boston, K. Sideridis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ferro–Ceramic Grinding; and Dr. Georgios Patoulis, President of the Athens Medical Association, for his longstanding contribution to the field of health and his initiatives supporting and strengthening the Greek diaspora.

A distinctive tone was added to the event by the presence of the Evzones diaspora group, who performed traditional dances from various regions of Greece, highlighting the richness and vitality of Greek cultural heritage.

The event once again reaffirmed the strong and enduring bond of the Greek diaspora with Greece, as well as its steadfast commitment to preserving, promoting, and transmitting national and cultural values to future generations.
