The meeting between the President of Elitour and the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, took place in a very good atmosphere. The President of Elitour and President of the Athens Medical Association Mr. George Patoulis reiterated the efforts made by the Greek Health Tourism Council for the promotion of Greece as a leading destination for health and wellness tourism in the international arena.
More specifically, Mr. Patoulis raised again to the Minister of Health, a series of proposals that will strengthen Health & Wellness Tourism in Greece and which relate to the Development Law, the operation of primary health units within 4 & 5 star hotels with specific certifications and specifications, the Registry of Health & Wellness Tourism Providers, as well as the licensing of Day Care Units and other specialties beyond those that can currently be licensed.
In addition, Mr Patoulis made special reference to the issue of the Medical Visa (Medi Visa), where he had recently made a request to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Gerapetritis, for the resolution of this serious issue, as the Medical Visa will be a short-term visa that will be granted exclusively for medical treatment purposes. The Minister of Health Mr. Georgiades in turn assured the President of Elitour that the issue of the Medical Visa will have a positive outcome in the next period.
Finally, Mr Patoulis also referred to the actions of Elitour that will continue and invited Mr Georgiades to the 8th Panhellenic Congress of Thermal Medicine that will be held on 21-22 September at the National Research Foundation.
