
Patoulis : “Health Tourism can be the engine of growth for our country, enabling the younger brave colleagues to stay and creating the brand name of Greece to be the Health Country of the global community”
The Workshop on Reproductive Tourism and Assisted Reproduction continued for the second day, with great success, in Alexandroupolis, in the framework of the two-day conference on Health Tourism organized by the Greek Health Tourism Council – Elitour, in collaboration with the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute, under the auspices of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Municipality of Alexandroupolis, the Department of Medicine of the Democritus University of Thrace, the Medical Associations of Athens and Evros, the Hippocratic Academy of Thermal Medicine and the Hellenic Society of Reproductive Medicine.
The important role that Greece can play in the field of Health Tourism – Fertility Tourism was highlighted at the workshop held on Saturday 29 June at the Nomarxeio of Alexandroupolis, with the participation of notable representatives of the political, academic and business world of the country. The speeches were of a high level and the speakers referred to the huge potential of Health Tourism for the development of our country, as it has been growing rapidly in recent years.
The proceedings of the Workshop were opened by George Patoulis, President of the Athens Medical Association, Elitour and the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute, who said that Health Tourism can be the engine of growth for our country, promoting Greece to become the Health Country in the global community. Among other things, he stressed the following:
“Medical tourism creates greater possibilities and opportunities, and as a result we are seeing more participation in this venture. The basis is the excellent medical potential and health structures that are constantly improving. Our goal is to make Greece a leading medical tourism destination 12 months a year. To highlight Greek cities, even the border cities, such as the beautiful Alexandroupolis, as city break destinations and to attract investments that will create new jobs. Our country has strong competitive advantages and we must exploit them”.
Mr. Patoulis also referred to the huge efforts made by the Greek Health Tourism Council for the promotion and promotion of medical tourism and stressed that Elitour is the only organization that marries science with any health and tourism structures, and even the structures of movement and transport of patients and, together with the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute, it communicates the possibilities that can be developed in our country, through well-being and health, but also to encourage the generations of scientists who have gone to other countries that there is the prospect of returning to Greece and produce the work they aspire to.
