Patoulis: “Our goal is to make Greece a top medical tourism destination 12 months a year”
The prospects for cooperation in the field of medical tourism between Greece and China were the subject of a meeting between G. Patoulis, President of Athens Medical Association and Greek Health Tourism Council, with a Chinese delegation of officials from 7 regions of China. This was an important meeting, as the participants were Presidents of Tourism Associations of the largest regions of China who visited Greece on the occasion of the opening of a new Chinese airline connecting our country with Shanghai.
The President of the AMA & Elitour G. Patoulis with the Chinese delegation and the Vice President of Elitour Mr. K. Pantos had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Tourism E. Rapti, who expressed her intention to contribute to the achievement of this important national objective, the development of medical tourism.
Afterwards, the Chinese officials visited the Athens Medical Association where they were informed about the dynamics of our country in the field of medical tourism and the possibilities for China to benefit from it.
The President of the Elitour, Mr Patoulis, spoke about the high scientific level of Greek scientists and the development of medical units in our country, which provide high quality services at competitive prices, as well as the effort to spread the Hippocratic spirit. He even invited the Chinese officials to the swearing-in ceremony of medical graduates in Kos in the autumn.
Commenting on the issue, Patoulis stressed the following:
“”Health Tourism is placed among the most important growth drivers of the Greek economy for the coming decade. Our goal is to make Greece a leading medical tourism destination 12 months a year. To promote Greek cities as city break destinations and to attract investments that will create thousands of new jobs and new incomes in a country that has been suffering from a structural crisis for the last eight years. Our country has strong competitive advantages; we can attract high quality patient tourists and keep the best minds of the country, the Greek scientists, in Greece.”
